Installation - Part 4

Here are the 4 parts of an Installation.

  1. Admin work - getting MID approved, create the Petro Outlet account, loyalty
  2. Verifone/Gilbarco Integration, wire runs, develop installation plan
  3. EBT sorting, Menu Configuration, Testing Equipment
  4. Equipment Installation + Training

We will now focus on part 4 - Equipment Installation + Training.

This is where all the work in the previous points comes to a point in part 4. Ideally, the work done in Parts 1-3 makes Part 4 very smooth. However,  Part 4 is where the most skill and knowledge is needed. In this section, you'll have to be actively thinking on your feet and you'll have to be ready for all problems that arise.

The first part of the installation is going to be to set up the Veeder Root integration. This may take time for Petro Outlet to set up, so we do it before we put the Supersonics are in so employees aren't anticipating training too much. Follow this guide for that:

The end of the installation is going to be the same as the end of Part 3. We're going to put all of the equipment in place. Here is the guide:

Once you've installed the Supersonic(s), you now have to set up the Cameras if applicable. Here is the guide for that:

If you are installing at gas station that will be accepting gas on the Supersonic, follow this guide to add a button on the Verifone/Gilabarco for Supersonic Gas.

After you've done these 3 installations (and added the gas button), everything is set up for training. Gather your employees around and start training. For gas stations, employees tend to adjust easier because they've used a POS system before. However, if they are a convenience store, they may not have. So make sure to take the time with them and overview transactions to see that they are comfortable. Also, expect a lot of calls for the next week :)

Here is the training guide for the POS system:

I'm warning you now, there are probably going to be some random problem that you'll have to fix throughout the install.

Once your done training, and everyone at the store feels confident, you can leave. Installations can take anywhere from 3-8 hours. That 5 hour difference is because of problems that will arise. Every installation is different. You'll have to do one installation per day, 2 will never scheduled for the same tech on the same day.
